Giveaway! Teetoo's One Year Anniversary and My Most Cherished Handmade Item

One year ago today, I stayed up all night filling the Teetoo Etsy shop with all of my handmade lovables...

This venture has been so much more challenging than I had ever imagined it would be! I'm glad that I have the 'jump right in and give it a try' attitude that I do because if I had really understood how much hard work my new little business was going to be, maybe I wouldn't have gone through with it. Just opening the shop was riddled with problems! I had to postpone my opening date many weeks because I didn't have my pieces completed and photographed as quickly as I hoped I would and when I received all of my paper goods back from the printers the day before I had planned to open, half of my materials were not printed properly. It was very upsetting and frustrating at the time, but so many lessons learned and in the end it all worked out! I'm so very proud of my little shop. Maybe all the hard work has made me appreciate it even more :)

Here's how the shop looks today!
*as you can see, I just updated the shop with a batch of new baby stars*

I have learned so much in my first year of business and I've developed a bunch of new skills. I did not know then that Facebook and my little blog here would be my top sources of income. Good thing I decided to overcome my stage fright and give blogging a try! I also had no idea how to make a jointed bear last year and the Teetoo Sasquatch has turned out to be one of my top selling items.

So after one year I can say that opening my shop on Etsy has been a huge success for me! I realized recently that I am not totally sure where I want the shop to go in the future. Because I am open to new ideas, ventures and experiments, I imagine that this whole experience will take me to places that I have not dreamed of yet. But no matter what happens down the road, everything that I have learned and all of the love and support that I have received up until this point has been so great that this venture is already worth all of the sweat and tears that have gone into making it so. Thank you! Alright, lets get down to the fun part of this shall we?

My Most Cherished Handmade Item...

This little man was purchased from a crafts person by my father in Abram's Village, Prince Edward Island. My father brought him home one day when I was a child after one of his regular visits to his home town in PEI. He drew the face on this sweet little man, poked a pencil into the little hole in his back and would make him dance for me. My father's happy, creative and forever young spirit has been such an inspiration to me. I keep this little man on the dresser in our room so that I can see him each day and be reminded of my amazing dad.

I will be back here to announce the winner of the giveaway on December 1st. Until then, I will be busy in the studio getting ready for the Bazaar of the Bizarre: Frost Bite on December 11th. I hope you can make it to the show.
